Sabrina sings about the heartbreak from a past relationship and how she’s using her misery to strengthen herself and move forward. The lyrics of this track focus on themes of growth and independence. “So take aim and fire away, I’ve never been so wide awake” It’s refreshing to see Alan produce a dance track that incorporates various sounds, but manages to keep the rhythm tame and soothing without overdoing it. Surprisingly, I was expecting your typical bangers type of drop but it’s a subtle beat that blends particularly well with the blowing of a flute. The chorus then becomes your dramatic pre-climax that begins to build which then creates a drop at the end of the chorus. As we get to the pre chorus, the guitar stops and a singular beat begins to kick in and fasten the track. The track begins with simple strums of an electric guitar that builds with Sabrina’s vocals. On My Way experiments with many different instruments and sounds that come together to create a placid instrumental. Then lucky last we have Latin prodigy Farruko who’s already made big waves on the Spanish charts in 2019 with three entries to date. Sabrina on the other hand is on the verge of releasing her fourth studio album Singular Act: II which features her latest track Pushing 20. Alan rose to prominence in 2015 with his mega house track Faded that topped several charts worldwide. I firstly heard a preview of this track off Sabrina’s Instagram a few days before its release and I instantly got a feeling that this song would be special.

All three artists took to their social media platforms upon its release to tease the track along with animated visuals. Norwegian DJ Alan Walker is entering 2019 with a bang as he drops his first single for the year On My Way featuring America’s sweetheart Sabrina Carpenter and Puerto Rican trap star Farruko.
